Canon WP-DC7, WP-DC9 and WP-DC11 housings (24-09-2006)Canon has announced three new underwater housings for three new PowerShot cameras.
The WP-DC7 underwater housing is intended for the Canon PowerShot SD900/DIGITAL IXUS 900 Ti, a 10.0 megapixel camera equipped with a 3x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 7.7–23.1 mm (35 mm film equivalent 37–111 mm), f/2.8–f/4.9, which is ideal for a wide range of photography including snapshots and scenic shots.
The WP-DC9 is the casing for the PowerShot SD800 IS/DIGITAL IXUS 850 IS. This camera has a lower resolution of 7.1 megapixel, but has a better zoom range of 4.6–17.3 mm (28-105mm equiv. at 35mm film). It is also equipped with a shift-type image stabilizer system. The effect of camera shake correction is approx. 3 steps in shutter speed equivalent.
The WP-DC11 underwater housing is for the PowerShot G7. This 10 megapixel camera has a 6x optical zoom lens and an extensible flash control including 1st/2nd curtain Synchro, Red-Eye Reduction, Slow Synchro, flash output compensation (±2.0 stops in 1/3–stop increments). The G7 also has hot shoe flash-sync contacts for use with external flashes like the Canon Speedlite 220EX, 430EX or 580EX.
