Panasonic housings: DMW-MCFX07, MCFX30 and MCTZ3 (02-02-2007)
Panasonic have announced new marine cases for their upcoming new digital cameras in the Lumix line. The DMW-MCTZ3 is a housing designed for the DMC-TZ3, a 7.2 megapixel digicam with 10x optical zoom and a large 3.0-inch LCD screen. The DMC-TZ2, with 6.0 megapixel resolution, has the same dimensions, but given the smaller LCD of 2.5 inch it it not yet clear whether it will also fit in the MCTZ3 housing.
The DMW-MCFX07 is the designated underwater housing for the DMC-FS1, a 6 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom. Last is the DMW-MCFX30 for the DMC-FX30, a 7.2 megapixel camera with 3.6x optical zoom, MEGA Optical Image Stabilization and 2.5" LCD.
All Panasonic underwater housings are compact and lightweight, and can be taken to depths of up to 40 meters. A diffuser for the camera's flash is built onto the housing. The three camera models feature a special Underwater mode to compensate for the differing light conditions. Both cameras and housings are expected to hit the market in spring 2007, with an expected MSRP of 240 USD or 220 euro for the housings.
