Canon WP-DC12, WP-DC13, WP-DC14 U/W housings (16-03-2007)

Canon has announced three new underwater housings for three new PowerShot cameras.

The WP-DC12 underwater housing is intended for the PowerShot A570 IS, Canon's 7.1 Megapixel addition to the PowerShot A-Series.

The camera is powered by DIGIC III, which introduces Face Detection Technology, automatic Red-Eye Correction in Playback and ISO 1600 to the PowerShot A-Series. The A570 IS adds an optical Image Stabilizer to the lens, full manual control and a comprehensive range of accessories, giving users the choice to simply ‘point and shoot’ or explore the creative side of photography.

The WP-DC13 is the casing for the PowerShot SD1000 DIGITAL ELPH / DIGITAL IXUS 70.

This camera has a resolution of 7.1 megapixel, a 1/2.5-inch CCD, DIGIC III Image Processor, 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5-inch LCD monitor with wide viewing angle. The Digital IXUS 70 is Canon's slimmest optical zoom camera yet, featuring a clean, minimalist design inspired by the original IXUS.

The WP-DC14 underwater housing is designed for the PowerShot SD750 DIGITAL ELPH / DIGITAL IXUS 75.

The ultra compact Digital IXUS 75 is similar to the IXUS 70, but has a 3.0” PureColor LCD instead and does not feature an optical viewfinder.

All three cameras have a special Underwater Scene Mode, that yields image data in the optimal white balance to record images with natural hues by reducing the bluish tone. The camera's internal flash can be used inside the housing to illuminate subjects (a removable diffuser is included) or trigger an external slave strobe. The underwater housings can be safely used to depths of 40 meters.
