Olympus Mju/Stylus 790 SW and PT-041 housing (24-08-2007)

Olympus has announced the µ (Mju) / Stylus 790 SW waterproof digital camera.

This 7.1 megapixel camera is shockproof, waterproof and freezeproof, so it can be taken mountain biking, swimming or skiing. The Mju 790 SW is waterproof to 3m according IEC publication 529 IPX8, and features 23 scene modes including 4 specifically for under water.

To withstand a water pressure equivalent to a depth of 40 metres, the camera can be combined with the PT-041 underwater case.

This housing allows control of photo functions of the camera, such as zoom and flash mode. It features a screw mount for attaching converter lenses and filters, and has a standard tripod socket that permits attachment of a lighting tray.

Both camera and housing are scheduled for release in September 2007.
