Sea&Sea housings for Canon 40D, 1D(s) Mark III, G9 (29-12-2007)
Sea&Sea has released details of three new underwater housings for Canon digital cameras. The MDX-40D is a corrosion resistant aluminum alloy housing, capable of handling the pressure at 60 meters depth. All major functions of the EOS 40D can be controlled through the housing.
The MDX-PRO Mark III is a housing for the EOS 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III. It is has similar performance as the MDX-40D, and measure 335x220x147mm and weighs around 3250 grams. Both Canon DSLR housings come standard with two strobe connectors located on top: one 2-pin connector unit and one 6-pin connector unit. The 2-pin connector is compatible with Sea&Sea YS-series strobes. The 6-pin connector accepts the optional TTL converter for Canon that enables automatic TTL strobe photography.
The titanium grey Sea&Sea MDX-G9 housing for the Canon G9 is equipped with a built-in TTL converter, that can be controlled from the outside and is wired to a 3-pin sync connector for an external strobe. The MDX-G9 can optionally be extended with a 0.6x wide angle conversion lens that can be attached under water. This would convert the standard wide angle of 35mm to 21mm. The new Sea&Sea MDX housings for Canon digital cameras will ship starting from January 2008. More Sea&Sea cases can be found on the Sea&Sea underwater housings page.
