Ikelite #6809.1 underwater housing for Nikon D90 (30-09-2008)Ikelite have announced a full-featured yet affordable underwater housing for the Nikon D90 Digital SLR camera.
The D90 is another great step forward in Nikon's mid-class DX-format D-SLR range. As the world's first D-SLR with movie function, this remarkable camera offers truly cinematic results, stunning image quality and innovative high-performance features inherited from Nikon's new-generation DX-format flagship D300. The D90 will open new doors for photography enthusiasts of any level.
With 12.3 megapixels, the newly-designed DX-format CMOS image sensor and Nikon's proprietary EXPEED image processing concept, the D90 is a quality-guarantee. Advanced features such as Live View, Scene Recognition, Active D-Lighting, Picture Control and an ISO sensitivity range of 200-3200 (ISO 6400 equivalent on Hi1 and ISO 100 equivalent on Lo1), allows creativity in almost any setting. And to ensure all these features are easy to use, they are packed in an ergonomic body with an intuitive operational layout.
The size and weight provides neutral buoyancy and superb handling underwater. Camera installation is quick and simple. The dependable controls are conveniently placed at your fingertips, and kept water tight with Ikelite pioneered Quad-Ring seal glands proven to be the most reliable method for sealing controls.
A full range of dome and flat ports accommodate most macro, wide-angle and zoom lenses. Port attachment is quick and easy with a simple locking system and clear view of the port o-ring seal. Lens port not included. A large zoom control knob can be comfortably reached without removing your hand from the handle. The Ikelite Super-Eye magnifier comes standard and offers enhanced visibility of the camera's viewfinder while wearing a diving mask. The camera's D-Movie and live-view features can also be used to its full potential with an unobstructed view through the back of the housing.
The housing includes iTTL conversion circuitry that puts perfect exposure at your fingertips. The TTL mode provides four 1/3 f/stop increments over or under flash compensation that is added to or subtracted from any compensation entered into the camera. Seven manual power settings in half-stop increments allow for complete creative control. All choices are obtained by simply rotating a knob on the housing back.
The special TTL conversion circuitry operates perfectly with current model Ikelite DS digital SubStrobes. Other strobes can be used, but they cannot provide TTL or be manually controlled through the housing back. The Ikelite has a market MSRP of around 1400 USD/1200 Euro.
