Canon PowerShot S300, WP-DC100 en Sea&Sea wide angle
The Canon PowerShot S300 (IXUS300) digital camera comes standard with a 34mm equivalent wide angle. To further increase this, I bought the Sea&Sea wide angle converter lens. Below you can find the results of using this lens on the WP-DC100 housing.
Standard lensThe S300 in the WP-DC100 housing results in an underwater viewing angle of around 46 degrees. Photo 1 - S300 at 34mm in WP-DC100: ![]() Using the Sea&Sea wide angle converter
With the S300 at 34mm, the lens provides an angle of view of around 90 degrees, withou any sign
of black corners due to vignetting (as is the case with the C3000/PT-010 for example).
Photo 2 - S300 at 34mm with Sea&Sea wide angle: ![]() The distortion of the lens is also reasonable: the vertical lines are almost straight, and ther is only a little curving in the horizontal lines. Photo 3 & 4 - Close-up comparison with and without wide angle:
Conclusion
The angle of view of the PowerShot S300/WP-DC100 combination is increased tremendously with the Sea&Sea wide angle, without any anoying distortion or vignetting. All in all, a super addition to the set! Paco Busteros
